Maple Leafs trim training camp roster, send 13 players to AHL

TORONTO – The Toronto Maple Leafs trimmed their training camp roster on Friday, sending hopefuls Darryl Boyce, Tim Stapleton and 11 others to the AHL Marlies.

Boyce played one game for the Maple Leafs last season and separated his shoulder in that outing. The native of Summerside, P.E.I., originally signed a free-agent deal with the organization after playing at the University of New Brunswick.

Stapleton agreed to a free-agent contract in the off-season.

The 25-year-old American spent the past two seasons playing for Jokerit in the Finland.

Among the players remaing in Leafs camp are first-round draft pick Luke Schenn and John Mitchell, who was second on the Marlies in scoring last season.
