Martin St. Louis signs four-year extension with Tampa Bay Lightning

TAMPA, Fla. – Martin St. Louis is going to have the chance to finish his career as a member of the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The 35-year-old forward has signed a US$22.5-million, four-year extension with the team, putting him under contract through the 2014-15 season.

“Today is a great day for the Lightning organization,” Lightning GM Steve Yzerman said in a statement. “Marty means so much to this franchise, both on and off the ice. His hard work and dedication are unsurpassed and we are thrilled that he will finish his career here in Tampa Bay.”

St. Louis was among the league leaders in scoring last year after finishing with 29 goals and 94 points.

He’s spent the past nine seasons with Tampa Bay and won a Stanley Cup there in 2004.

A former Hart Trophy winner and NHL scoring champion, St. Louis won the Lady Byng Trophy as the league’s most gentlemanly player last week.
