Mathieu Darche scores three goals, Hamilton beats the Americans 5-4

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Mathieu Darche scored his third of the game 50 seconds into overtime Sunday as the Hamilton Bulldogs beat the Rochester Americans 5-4.

Darche completed his hat trick by knocking a rebound behind Chris Beckford-Tseu.

Benoit Pouliot and J.T. Wyman also scored for the Bulldogs (19-7-5), who moved past Rochester into first place in the North Division. Cedrik Desjardins stopped 22 shots.

Chris Taylor, with two, Daniel Steiner and Jamie Johnson replied for Rochester (20-9-2).

Alexander Salak started the game for the Americans and appeared to be injured when Pouliot opened the scoring at 9:28 of the first period. Salak and Beckford-Tseu combined to make 40 saves.

The Bulldogs are off until returning to Rochester on Boxing Day.
