Michael Grabner scores twice to lift Moose past Wolves 4-1 in AHL action

WINNIPEG – Michael Grabner scored twice and Cory Schneider stopped 23 shots as the Manitoba Moose beat the Chicago Wolves 4-1 Friday in the American Hockey League.

Grabner opened the scoring at 11:57 of the first period on an assist from Sergei Shirokov, playing his first game with the Moose (2-1-0) since being demoted by the NHL’s Vancouver Canucks. Shirokov added a goal on a Manitoba power-play at 16:54 of the second period.

Michael Funk added a goal and an assist for the Moose, while Marco Rosa chipped in with a pair of helpers.

John Pohl had the lone goal of the game for Chicago (0-2-0), while Drew McIntyre made 35 saves in defeat.
