Marty McFly, everyone’s favorite time traveller, has his own incredible new goalie mask thanks to Henrik Lundqvist. Lundqvist teamed with McFly actor Michael J. Fox to pay tribute to ‘Back to the Future’ as part of Lundqvist’s series ‘The Mask’ on MSG.
Back to the Future is one of the most beloved movie franchises of the 1980s, and that’s thanks in large part to the talent of Michael J. Fox, who made us fall in love with Marty McFly. As part of
series on MSG, The Mask, he had Fox on as a guest to talk about how life was growing up, what made Lundqvist become a goaltender and, in the end, design a special mask to be painted by Lundqvist’s mask maker, David Gunnarsson of DaveArt. You can check out the full
Back to the Future-themed mask below:
As part of Lundqvist’s series, Gunnarsson makes masks that have something to do with the subject. It might be hard to top this one, though. With the fox riding along in the DeLorean on the left crown of the mask and Marty McFly stepping out of the time-travel machine and checking his watch on the right, the mask captures some of the most famous images from the movie. On the back panel, the initials of Fox’s four children are included, as is the logo of the
Michael J. Fox Foundation, which helps raise funds for research into Parkinson’s disease, a degenerative disorder that effects the central nervous system. Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in the early 1990s and made his diagnosis public in 1998.
