Mikael Granlund’s first playoff goal is one of the best overtime winners you’ll see

The Minnesota Wild dominated Colorado throughout Game 3, but were stilled forced into a scoreless overtime. That’s when Mikael Granlund scored his first Stanley Cup playoff goal – and it was a must-see beauty.

Despite being dominated in Game 3, the Colorado Avalanche will still one lucky bounce away from going up 3-0 in their series with the Minnesota Wild. I mean, look at this
Fenwick chart from the game, which looks like it should have been much more of a blowout than
San Jose’s 7-2 win over Los Angeles Sunday night.
col-minfenwick But this was a 1-0 overtime game. Enter Minnesota playoff Mikael Granlund, who converted his first post-season goal in the extra frame. He couldn’t have made it look much prettier, or made Jan Hejda look much worse.

Matt Cooke, who had a very
Matt Cooke incident earlier in the game, was thankfully not even on the ice for the goal. For the second time in their series, the Avs and Wild went to overtime. Game 3 may have been close on the scoreboard, but it was easily the most lopsided so far with the Wild outshooting the Avs 46-22. Minnesota looked like the top-five defense it was in the regular season and Colorado looked like the bottom six defense it was. What a difference a home game makes.
