VANCOUVER – Vancouver Canucks forward Mikael Samuelsson did not dress for Friday night’s Game 2 of the NHL Western Conference quarter-final series against the Chicago Blackhawks.
A team spokesman said Samuelsson was sick, but offered no further explanation. Samuelsson practised with the team on Thursday.
Samuelsson, a native of Mariefred, Sweden, played 19 minutes 38 seconds in Vancouver’s 2-0 win over the Blackhawks in Wednesday’s opening game of the series.
During the regular season, Samuelsson had 18 goals and 32 assists for 50 points. He missed six games late in the season with an upper thigh injury.
The 34 year old was a member of the Detroit’s 2008 Stanley Cup championship team.
