Milan Lucic’s Blog: Having a blast in the first half

Growing up in British Columbia, I remember always watching

What’s up everyone!

Since we are about halfway through the season, I thought I’d check in and give you a “State of the Union” here in Boston.

The team has been playing well and I’m definitely happy about that. I think we have impressed our fans and surpassed the expectations of a lot of people outside our locker room.

There is a long way to go, but the fact we have put ourselves in the hunt for a playoff spot is a huge positive.

For me personally, things have gone very well so far.

I have been able to make the jump from junior to the NHL and have held my own. The jump wasn’t as hard as I thought it was going to be, but it still took a lot of work to get here.

I am not saying it has been easy by any means, but a combination of the players around me, the coaching staff and the effort I have put in has made it a smooth transition.

In the past handful of games I have been playing close to 13 minutes a game.

This is a big increase over the five to seven minutes I was seeing at the beginning of the year. I am proud my playing time has gone up over the course of the season and feel I’ve been contributing to the success of our team.

Hopefully I can continue to improve and make an even bigger impact as the games become more and more meaningful.

We have a great group of guys here and I am definitely enjoying my time in Boston. Everyone has been helpful – whether it be the players, coaches, trainers or team staff – and that has made things so much easier for me on and off the ice.

You play a lot better when you are having fun; and right now, I am having a blast.

Talk to you soon.
