Minnesota Wild’s Dupuis out four to six weeks with knee sprain

Dupuis was hurt in the first period of Thursday’s game against Washington when he collided with Capitals defenceman Steve Eminger. Dupuis left the ice immediately and limped to the training room.

Dupuis, in his fifth year with the Wild, had 10 goals and 16 assists in 67 games last season. The team said it would not make a corresponding move and go with 21 players for the time being.

Minnesota (4-0), which hosts Columbus on Saturday, is off to the best start in the franchise’s six years.

The Wild also returned centre James Sheppard to the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. The first-round draft pick injured his back at the beginning of training camp and had been rehabilitating in Minnesota.
