NEW YORK – Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price has been named the NHL’s first star of the week.
New York Rangers forward Jaromir Jagr was runner-up while Washington Capitals goalie Cristobal Huet was named third star.
Price posted a 3-0-0 record with a 0.67 goals-against average, a .977 save percentage and one shutout as the Canadiens finished first overall in the Eastern Conference.
Price is 24-12-3 with a 2.56 GAA and a .920 save percentage in 41 appearances this season.
Jagr led all scorers with seven points (5-2) in four games, helping the Rangers to a 2-0-2 record for the week.
Jagr led the Rangers in scoring this season with 71 points (25-46) in 82 games.
Huet, meanwhile, went 3-0-0 with a 1.00 GAA and a .955 save percentage for the Capitals, who made the playoffs for the first time in four seasons.
Since coming to Washington from Montreal at the trade deadline, Huet posted a 11-2-0 record with a 1.63 GAA, a .936 save percentage and two shutouts in 13 appearances.
