New Ducks D Andy Sutton out 6-8 weeks to recover from surgery on broken thumb

ANAHEIM, Calif. – Anaheim Ducks defenceman Andy Sutton will be out six to eight weeks after undergoing surgery on his broken right thumb.

Sutton had surgery Tuesday in Los Angeles.

The veteran defenceman was hurt in his first game with Anaheim while fighting Detroit’s Ruslan Salei.

The Ducks signed Sutton as a free agent in the off-season, expecting him to play a major role on their revamped defence.
