Nonis agrees to new deal with Leafs to stay on as senior VP of hockey operations

TORONTO – David Nonis has agreed to terms on a new contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Nonis, the team’s senior vice-president of hockey operations, will remain with the club through the 2011-2012 season.

The 43-year-old Nonis had reportedly been in the running for the GM’s job in Tampa Bay but has taken himself out of the running to stay in Toronto.

Nonis joined the Leafs in December 2008 after spending four years as GM of the Vancouver Canucks.
