NWHL goaltender Brianne McLaughlin has an awesome new mask

Buffalo Beauts goaltender Brianna McLaughlin has a brand new mask heading her way, and it’s gorgeous. Featuring the silver, blue, black and white of the Beauts jerseys, the mask features a pin-up model wearing Buffalo’s jersey.

Believe it or not, the NWHL is already three weeks into its inaugural season. But Buffalo Beauts netminder Brianne McLaughlin is already ready to make an aesthetic change, as she has a new mask on the way.

There aren’t many goaltenders — NHL, AHL, NWHL or otherwise — that rock silver masks, but that’s exactly what McLaughlin will be putting on when she gets her new headwear. On a silver backdrop, the mask has the Beauts’ signature baby blue, black and white striping, with the team word mark in blue down the jaw line. It also features a pin-up model, wearing a Beauts jersey, sitting atop the ‘B’:

The mask, designed by CCM Hockey, blends the awesome Buffalo color scheme with silver to make the entire design really pop. The silver background appears bolted down to the mask thanks to the design style, and the “Boom!!!” written on the paddle of the stick held by the model is a nice touch. On the chin of the mask is McLaughlin’s No. 29.

McLaughlin, 28, is playing her first full season of hockey since her 2008-09 campaign with the NCAA’s Robert Morris University. McLaughlin was also a part of Team USA’s women’s Olympic squads in 2010 and 2014, but suited up for just one game.

This season with the Beauts, McLaughlin has a 4.67 goals-against average and .848 save percentage in three games of work. Both marks are fourth-best in the NWHL. She has yet to secure her first victory in the NWHL, but has started each game for Buffalo this season.
