HERSHEY, Pa. – Sheldon Souray’s rough start to the season continues.
The exiled Edmonton Oilers defenceman broke his hand after getting in a fight in an American Hockey League game, the Hershey Bears confirmed to The Canadian Press on Tuesday.
The 34-year-old suffered the injury when he fought Adirondack Phantoms forward Matt Clarkson in a game on Saturday.
The team called it a minor fracture and expect Souray back in two weeks.
It’s the latest setback for Souray, who was loaned to Hershey by the Oilers when they couldn’t find a willing trade partner for the disgruntled blue-liner over the off-season.
Souray will make US$4.5 million a season over the next two years. He has three assists in four games with Hershey.
