Ottawa Senators to host 2012 all-star game weekend, source says

OTTAWA – The NHL all-star game is coming to Ottawa.

The Senators will host the event in 2012, a source told The Canadian Press on Monday.

The team has scheduled a news conference Wednesday to make a “major announcement.” NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and Senators owner Eugene Melnyk will attend.

The Sens franchise will be celebrating their 20th year in the league in 2012.

It will be the first time Ottawa has hosted the annual showcase.

The Carolina Hurricanes will host the 2011 all-star game in Raleigh, N.C.
