McAmmond, knocked out by a forearm to the head by defenceman Chris Pronger in Game 3, had a short skate and a turn on the stationary bicycle Monday morning and said he felt better than he did a day earlier.
But apparently there wasn’t enough improvement for him to play. Winger Patrick Eaves took his spot in the lineup.
Pronger was given a one-game suspension for the hit on McAmmond in Saturday’s 5-3 Ottawa win and was replaced by Joe DiPenta.
The Ducks hoped to at least have Kunitz, one of their top wingers, but an abdominal bruise suffered in a Game 3 collision forced him back to the shelf.
Kunitz had just returned from missing seven games with a broken finger before he was hurt again Saturday. Joe Motzko took his place in the lineup.
