Out of the way, zebras

Bobby Mason, Chicago

In the world of the new NHL where mistakes are amplified, it’s hard enough to not turn the puck over on your own, let alone because of the linesman.

Lately it seems every game an unsuspecting zebra is keeping a puck in the zone or impeding a pass or player from making his move. Couldn’t the NHL cage these zebras in a box off the ice surface along the blueline?

They could still patrol the blueline and make accurate calls, but not interfere with renegade pucks wanting out of the attacking zone.

I just don’t want to see the day where the skate of a linesman costs a team its season.
