Ovechkin scores, Kolzig makes 27 saves as Capitals blank Panthers 1-0

The shutout was Kolzig’s first since Feb. 15, 2004, during the Capitals’ 4-0 win at Chicago. The Capitals improved to 21-8-8 when they score first. Washington is 6-31-6 when opponents score first.
