Panthers hire former Senators executive Randy Sexton as assistant GM

Sexton worked for Ottawa from 1988 to 1996 as, at one time or another, president, chief executive officer and general manager. He spent the last three years as executive director of Capital Sports Management Inc. In that job, Sexton provided strategic analysis to the Senators.

Sexton’s duties with Florida will include overseeing the scouting department, conducting contract negotiations and handling collective bargaining matters.

Panthers GM-coach Jacques Martin coached the Senators from 1996 to 2004.
