Panthers searching for goals, host Hurricanes

SUNRISE, Florida (Ticker) — Another goal scoring drought has
dropped the Florida Panthers into last place in the Eastern

Florida will look to break out on the offensive end and lift
itself out of the basement when it hosts the Carolina Panthers
on Monday.

The Panthers have been road warriors to start the season,
playing 12 of its 19 games away from home so far this campaign.
They are 3-8-1 on the season, having managed two goals or less
in seven of those contests.

David Booth, who leads the team with nine goals, scored in the
Panthers’ 4-2 loss to Boston on Friday. Nathan Horton has six
goals and six assists for Florida, which ranks last in the NHL
with 44 goals.

Carolina had its first three-game winning streak of the season
snapped in a 5-2 loss to Nashville on Sunday.

Cam Ward allowed a season-high five goals as the Hurricanes
ended a four-game homestand on a sour note. Matt Cullen and
Chad LaRose scored for Carolina.

Carolina posted a 6-4 victory over Florida in the season opener
behind tallies by six different players and three assists from
Tim Gleason.
