Watching post-lockout hockey has been refreshing. Rule changes and officiating have allowed for better flow and less interference.
One simple rule change I have appreciated is the effect of the no-substitution rule on icings.
Defending teams get tired, leading to more scoring opportunities.
Why not expand that to a rule where no substitutions are allowed when a goalie freezes the puck?
This would penalize a team that can’t get the puck out of their zone by simply tiring them out.
Tired players lead to mistakes and mistakes to goals.
I like goals.
