Player of the Week – Jan. 21

The Hockey News Player of the Week for the period of Jan. 14 to Jan. 20 is Chicago goaltender Patrick Lalime.

Lalime led the Blackhawks to three wins this week, posting an impressive .968 save percentage.

On Tuesday, Jan. 16, Lalime made 32 saves in a 6-1 victory against the St. Louis Blues.

The other two games were 2-1 shootout wins on the road. The first was in Colorado on Jan. 18 and the other against the Phoenix Coyotes on Jan. 19, a game where he had 38 saves. In the two contests he managed to stop five of the six shots he faced in the shootout.

He also posted a 3-2 shootout win over the Nashville Predators Jan. 13, starting Chicago on a four-game winning streak and putting them only five points out of a playoff spot.

Lalime is 8-5-1 for the season. He has a GAA of 2.44 and a .910 save percentage. With Nikolai Khabibulin rumored to be on the trade block, Lalime could become the Blackhawks starting goaltender.
