Pond hockey championship shows hockey’s greatness

I’ve seen it so many times on TV and in arenas, but today I had a real glimpse at why hockey players are truly the best sportsmen out there.

I just finished the first day at the Canadian national pond hockey championship where I am volunteering for the first time and I have never been more proud to be Canadian.

I officiated three games and was overwhelmed with the response from the players. I had the pleasure of talking with a number of them over the course of the day.

The level of respect they have for one another and the officials is unbelievable. It was 24 rinks filled with players who truly love hockey.

I can’t think of anywhere else I would rather be.
