The Jets rookie received a major penalty for boarding on the play while Sissons did not return to the game due to an upper body injury.
Winnipeg Jets forward Brandon Tanev could be hearing from the NHL’s department of player safety following his hit on Colton Sissons on Friday night.
The Jets rookie received a major penalty for boarding for his hit from behind on Sissons at 12:56 of the second period.
Sissons, who has two goals and an assist in 19 games with the Preds this season, left the game with an upper body injury and did not return.
“The hit from behind, we don’t want that in the game,” said Jets coach Paul Maurice postgame. “It wasn’t an unexpected hit from behind, but it was a hit from behind.”
Tanev, a free agent signing of the Jets, was playing in just his 26th career NHL game.
The Predators also lost leading goal scorer James Neal to an upper body injury in their 5-1 win over the Jets.
