SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Providence Bruins centre Vladimir Sobotka is the American Hockey League’s player of the week after recording three goals, three assists and a plus-4 rating in two games.
Sobotka scored the game-winning goal and added an assist in Providence’s 4-2 victory over Lowell on Friday and he picked up two goals and two assists as the Bruins defeated Portland on Sunday.
The 22-year-old recalled by the Boston Bruins after that contest.
Spitfires’ Troy Passingham named OHL player of the week
TORONTO – Windsor Spitfires goaltender Troy Passingham is the Ontario Hockey League’s player of the week after winning all three of his starts, two via shutouts.
Passingham stopped 28 shots in a 7-0 win over Sudbury last Monday made 29 saves Saturday in a 4-0 win over Plymouth.
He added 19 saves Thursday in an 8-5 win over Ottawa.
Hazen, Fournier win QMJHL weekly awards
BOUCHERVILLE, Que. – Val-d’Or Foreurs forward Jonathan Hazen is the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League offensive player of the week, while Rimouski Oceanic blue-liner Gleason Fournier took defensive honours.
over the past three games, Hazen recorded three goals on 13 shots and added four assists in while posting a plus-5 rating.
He played his best game Thursday, collecting four points in a 5-2 victory over the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.
Fournier registered two goals and four assists while posting a plus-4 rating. He also punished opponents, collecting ten hits.
Since his return to the Oceanic line-up earlier this month, Fournier has totalled eight points in five games – all Rimouski wins.
Tigers defenceman Isherwood claims WHL player of the week award
CALGARY – Medicine Hat Tigers defenceman Mark Isherwood has been named the Western Hockey League player of the week.
In three games last week, Isherwood scored four goals, added two assists and had a plus-2 rating, helping the Tigers post a 3-0 record in that span.
Isherwood is third among all WHL defenceman in scoring with 14 points (six goals, eight assists) in 12 games.
