Red-hot Capitals aim for seventh straight win

Philadelphia (21-10-8) at Washington (26-11-3), 7:00 pm EST

WASHINGTON (Ticker) — The Washington Capitals are the hottest
team in the league, but the Philadelphia Flyers seem to have
their number.

The Capitals will seek their seventh consecutive victory Tuesday
when they host the Flyers.

Washington has won 11 of its last 12 contests with the lone
defeat being a 7-1 loss to Philadelphia on December 20. The
Capitals, who have not lost at home since December 2, outshot
the Flyers 48-28 in that one.

Alex Ovechkin continues to fuel Washington’s offensive attack
despite being snubbed from the All-Star Game starting lineup.
The reigning Hart Trophy winner has seven goals – including
three game-winners – and 10 points over the club’s six-game
winning streak.

Philadelphia, which eliminated the Capitals from the playoffs in
last season’s Eastern Conference quarterfinals, has lost three
of its last five contests.

Scott Hartnell scored Saturday, but the Flyers suffered a 2-1
shootout loss to the Los Angeles Kings. Philadelphia is
concluding a season-long, six-game road swing, going 2-2-1 on
the trip so far.
