Red Wings look for third straight win vs. Wild

Detroit (25-7-5) at Minnesota (18-16-2), 8:00 pm EST

ST. PAUL, Minnesota (Ticker) — Fresh off their comeback win in
the 2009 Winter Classic, the Detroit Red Wings will visit the
Minnesota Wild on Saturday.

The Red Wings are seeking their third consecutive victory after
sweeping their home-and-home series against the Chicago
Blackhawks, including Thursday’s 6-4 triumph at Wrigley Field.

Pavel Datsyuk netted the go-ahead goal in that one, extending
his points streak to nine games. The Russian center has eight
goals and nine assists over that stretch.

The reigning Selke and Lady Byng Trophy winner, Datsyuk leads
the team with 26 assists and 42 points this campaign.

This marks the first meeting between the Western Conference foes
this season. In each of the last three campaigns, Detroit has
defeated Minnesota in three of their four contests.

Defenseman Brent Burns scored the game-winner in overtime and
also collected two assists in Wednesday’s impressive 3-2 triumph
over the San Jose Sharks, who own the best record in the West.
