Report: Columbus netminder Steve Mason suffering mononucleosis

According to the Columbus Post-Dispatch, rookie goalie Steve Mason is battling mononucleosis.

The report says the team still plans on playing the Calder candidate unless his symptoms take a turn for the worse. Mason currently leads the league with a 2.06 goals-against average and seven shutouts. The 20-year-old native of Oakville, Ont., is believed to have been ill for the past month.
