Report: Rangers re-sign coach John Tortorella to three-year deal

Coach John Tortorella has received an extension from the New York Rangers that is thought to be three years, according to a report in the New York Post.

According to the report, Tortorella, whose current contract was set to expire at the end of this season, and the Rangers reached a deal several months ago, but it has yet to be announced.

New York was eliminated from the playoff after losing Game 5 to the Capitals Sunday. In 185 games behind the Rangers bench, Tortorella is 97-73-18. His career record is 333-298-56 with 37 ties. He led Tampa Bay to a Stanley Cup in 2004.
