Rockford IceHogs left-winger Pascal Pelletier named AHL player of week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Rockford IceHogs left-winger Pascal Pelletier was named American Hockey League player of the week Monday.

Pelletier had seven points (6-1) in three games as Rockford earned five of a possible six points in the standings.

Pelletier, a 25-year-old native of Labrador City, N.L., is tied for fifth in the AHL with 13 goals. He also has eight assists for a total of 21 points in 21 games this season.

Nestrasil and Bourdon named QMJHL players of the week

BOUCHERVILLE, Que. – Victoriaville Tigres forward Andrej Nestrasil and Rouyn-Noranda Huskies defenceman Marc-Andre Bourdon were named the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s offensive and defensive players of the week.

Nestrasil scored three goals plus a shootout winner and five assists in three games while posting a plus-4 rating.

Bourdon gets the defensive honours after picking up seven assists and a plus-6 rating in two Huskies wins.

Taylor Procyshen of the Tri-City Americans named WHL player of week

CALGARY – Tri-City Americans forward Taylor Procyshen is the Western Hockey League’s player of the week.

Procyshen picked up two goals with five assists and was a plus-4 in helping the Americans to a 3-0-0-0 week.

John Tavares named OHL player of week

TORONTO – Oshawa Generals forward John Tavares was named the Ontario Hockey League’s player of the week.

Tavares, a top prospect for the next NHL draft, scored four goals with an assist and was a plus-5 in three games.

Tavares also scored a goal and was named game MVP in Monday’s 3-2 Team OHL win over the Russian Selects in the ADT Canada-Russia Challenge.
