Slovan Bratislava of the Kontinental League accidentally played the Soviet anthem instead of the Russian one before a game against Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. Watch as the Russian team looks around in confusion.
If you didn’t know the difference between the Russian and Soviet anthems, you might not even realize they’re different. They have a similar tune, after all.
So I suppose that’s why you could give the Kontinental League’s Slovan Bratislava a pass when they accidentally played the Soviet anthem instead of the Russian one before their game against Lokomotiv Yaroslavl on Tuesday:
The look on the face of Sergei Plotnikov, the alternate captain, is hilarious. You can tell he knew from the outset that something had gone awry, and he’s looking to see if anyone else has picked up on it. There’s a few awkward looks exchanged throughout the video after that.
It seems as though there were a few who rather enjoyed the mix up, as some fans put everything they could into their own renditions from the stands.
