Ryan and Drew Miller’s mom had stressful Sunday watching sons square off

The mother of NHL veterans Ryan Miller and Drew Miller is accustomed to splitting her hockey loyalties between two teams, but things got a little extra tense Sunday when Drew barrelled in on Ryan for a late-game breakaway. And wait till you see what Mrs. Miller was wearing.

As the mother of two veteran NHL players, Teresa Miller is accustomed to having her loyalties split. But she had a tougher time of things Sunday when her older son Ryan – star goalie for the Vancouver Canucks – squared off against his younger brother (and Red Wings left winger) Drew during a game in Detroit. And despite hockey’s nature as a team sport, Teresa and husband Dean would have to sit through a Miller-on-Miller individual battle of sorts when Drew had a late-game breakaway on Ryan.

It was late in the third period, with the Wings leading 4-2, when Drew broke out of Detroit’s zone with the puck and fought his way into a one-on-one showdown with Ryan. Drew had to fight off Canucks defender Luca Sbisa and couldn’t get off a clean backhand shot at his brother, but the play still had their parents on the edges of their seats:

Ryan Miller got the better of Drew Miller on that play, but it was the latter’s team who left Joe Louis Arena with a 5-3 victory. And being on the winning team didn’t really make a difference to Teresa Miller, who showed the world she supported both her boys equally via a creative and fun choice of outfit for the game:

Post-game in Detroit, a proud mama Miller showed off the sweater she made for her boys. #Canucks
