VANCOUVER – Ryan Getzlaf is scheduled to return to the Anaheim Ducks lineup Wednesday against the Vancouver Canucks.
The Ducks captain missed 14 games with nasal fractures.
“It feels good to be back, refreshed and ready to go,” Getzlaf said after the morning skate at Rogers Arena. “The last couple of days have been great. I’ve talked to the doctors lots. Everything is fine and ready to go.”
Getzlaf, who has 13 goals and 24 assists in 40 games, said not playing has been difficult.
“I’ve never been out this long,” he said. “It’s tough being out at the end of the season like this when you are trying to make that push for a playoff spot.
“Our guys did a great job while I was out and we are in a great position right now to make a run.”
Forward Bobby Ryan said Getzlaf’s return is huge for Anaheim.
“You have a guy that pushes that hundred-point mark every year,” said Ryan. “It adds a whole other element offensively.
“You look at the fact he’s our leader, our captain. It’s a morale boost all the way around. We’re excited.”
The Ducks went into Wednesday night’s game sitting seventh in the Western Conference with a 29-21-4 record for 62 points.
