ST. LOUIS – The Buffalo Sabres added some offensive muscle for their playoff push.
Buffalo acquired forward Brad Boyes from the St. Louis Blues for a second round draft pick in 2011.
Boyes is a former 40-goal scorer whose numbers have dipped in the past two seasons. The 28-year-old had a career-best 43 goals in 2007-08 and followed up with 33 the next season, but has totalled 26 goals in 146 games the last two seasons.
He has 12 goals and 41 points this season—tied for third-best on the Blues—and one more year left on his contract at US$4 million.
The Sabres are two points behind Carolina for the last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
St. Louis sits 13th in the Western Conference and looks to be in rebuilding mode. The Blues traded defencemen Eric Brewer and Erik Johnson earlier this month.
