Sharks acquire F Jody Shelley from Blue Jackets for 6th-round pick in 2009

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Sharks added some muscle Tuesday night, acquiring bruising forward Jody Shelley from the Columbus Blue Jackets for a sixth-round pick in the 2009 draft.

Shelley, a six-foot-four, 225-pound left-winger, went scoreless with 44 penalty minutes and a minus-2 rating in 44 games with the Blue Jackets this season.

“Jody Shelley is an aggressive, physical player who adds a distinct element of toughness to our team,” Sharks general manager Doug Wilson said in a statement. “He has tremendous character, has always been a team player and has the ability to make the opposition uncomfortable on the ice.”
