Stars sign defenceman Stephane Robidas to US$13.2M, four-year extension

FRISCO, Texas – The Dallas Stars have signed defenceman Stephane Robidas to a US$13.2-million, four-year contract extension, through the 2013-14 season.

General manager Joe Nieuwendyk said Thursday that Robidas (Roh-bee-dah), entering the fifth season of his second Dallas stint, is a key member of the leadership group.

The 32-year-old Robidas set career highs in assists (23) last season while averaging a team-high 24½ minutes of ice time per game.

Robidas was drafted by Montreal, made his debut in October 1999 and was waived three years later. Atlanta claimed him and traded him to the Stars, who then sent him to Chicago in November 2003. He returned to the Stars as a free agent in 2005 after the NHL lockout ended.
