Supporting the local teams

In the Oct. 26 issue, Ken Campbell alleges the Maple Leafs have a monopoly in their market. 

They are the only NHL team in southern Ontario, but there is plenty of other hockey to watch. 

Instead of forking over a substantial chunk of your paycheck for an NHL ticket, parking and hot dogs, why not get some buddies together and go see a junior, university or even midget AAA team play? These other teams will appreciate you as a fan far more, you can go to a lot more games for your money and you will see some future NHLers in the process.

A lot of times you will see a more entertaining game too. This doesn’t apply only to southern Ontario either. Get out more often and support your local teams and their superstars.
