Tampa Bay Lightning assistant coach Wayne Fleming diagnosed with brain tumour

TAMPA BAY, Fla. – Tampa Bay Lightning assistant coach Wayne Fleming has been diagnosed with a primary brain tumour.

Fleming, in his first season with the Lightning, is resting at home after undergoing a procedure Thursday. A team statement Saturday said Fleming’s involvement in the playoffs will depend on his recovery.

Fleming has served as an assistant coach with Edmonton, Calgary, Phoenix, Philadelphia and the New York Islanders.

He won a gold medal as an assistant coach with Canada at the 2002 Winter Games.
