The Bruins may be without Zdeno Chara, but another Boston sports star has offered up his services. In a Facebook post, Tom Brady showed he’s ready for the Bruins season by photoshopping himself onto the bench. He also offered to step in if the team needs a new enforcer.
The Boston Bruins opened up their season without star defenseman Zdeno Chara due to injury, but another local sports hero is ready to step into the lineup.
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady took to his Facebook page Thursday to show his support for the Bruins and he did it in hilarious fashion. Brady photoshopped a picture of himself waiting for a high-five, in Patriots uniform, into a photo of Boston left winger Brad Marchand skating by the Bruins’ bench to celebrate a goal.
“Good luck to the Bruins this year!” Brady wrote in the caption. “Let me know if you need another enforcer out there.”
Brady — all 6-foot-4, 225 pounds of him — actually would have enough size to suit up and be a decent defenseman. That’s assuming he can skate, handle a puck and is willing to step in front of a few shots, though. Problem is, Brady isn’t exactly known for his mobility, so maybe scratch that idea.
In high school, Brady was a three-sport athlete, playing football, basketball and baseball. He was even drafted by the Montreal Expos as a catcher, but he chose the football route, which has turned out all right for him, you could say. The 38-year-old is a four-time Super Bowl champion, three-time Super Bowl MVP and has twice been named NFL MVP. So, yeah, all right.
Don’t count on Brady suiting up for the Bruins anytime soon. But you never know. After all, the city does love their tough guys and they certainly adore Brady.
