The Dog lives on

Hopefully the Dog isn’t being put down! I am truly elated that Curtis Joseph is finally back in the NHL.

He is among the NHL’s all-time win leaders, a great mentor for younger goalies, a better backup and a tremendous team player. I just hope he can hang in the league a few more years and isn’t relegated to Calgary to be put down.

Joseph follows in the footsteps of others who went to Calgary in a limited role and never made it out alive. Mike Vernon started and ended with the Flames. Roman Turek kissed his NHL career goodbye there and Fred Brathwaite saw his NHL days nearly clipped to an end during his tenure.

I am happy for Joseph. He’s one of greats, I just hope he comes out in one piece…or at least with a Stanley Cup ring on his finger.
