2008/10/27: New York Newsday is reporting that Islanders goaltender Rick DiPietro suffered a “knee-related injury” in Saturday’s game against the Hurricanes. INTEL: DiPietro is expected to sit on Monday night against the Rangers, as Joey MacDonald will get the start. The team has not disclosed the source and severity of the injury.

Brandon Sutter, C, Carolina Hurricanes
2008/10/27: The Associated Press reports that Carolina Hurricanes forward Brandon Sutter was discharged from a hospital on Sunday after he suffered a concussion in Saturday’s game against the Islanders. INTEL: GM Jim Rutherford complained openly about the NHL’s lack of enforcement on hits to the head. “The league should at least stop saying it’s concerned with hits to the head, because it’s not,” he told Sutter is considered day to day, but doubtful for Tuesday’s game in Montreal.
