Toronto Maple Leafs recall centre Nazem Kadri from AHL’s Marlies

TORONTO – Nazem Kadri is getting another chance with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The club announced Tuesday it has recalled the centre from the AHL’s Marlies.

Kadri played 17 games with the Leafs earlier this season, collecting two goals and one assist.

The seventh overall choice at the 2009 draft, Kadri has 17 goals and 24 assists in 44 games with the Marlies in 2010-11.

The move comes after Leafs coach Ron Wilson announced following Monday night’s defeat to Tampa Bay that veteran winger Colby Armstrong would likely miss the rest of the season with a broken foot.

Leafs sat six points out of the playoffs with 12 games remaining on their schedule heading into Tuesday night’s action.

Toronto visits Carolina on Wednesday night.
