The Boston Bruins knocked off New York 5-2, reminding the Islanders that the Eastern Conference ain’t that easy. In the process, the B’s goaltender made a stunning save.
The New York Islanders have been one of the great stories of the 2014-15 season. In the franchise’s final year on Long Island before moving to Brooklyn, the team is tops in the Metropolitan Division and has a deep squad with weapons at all positions.
But none of that mattered last night.
The Boston Bruins, who know a thing or two about winning in the East, thumped the Isles 5-2, with Reilly Smith and Milan Lucic leading the offensive charge. In net, Tuukka Rask made 43 saves, none more impressive than this robbery of Michael Grabner:
That’s cold. Grabner did score a goal later in the night, but he had to be cursing Rask’s sorcery when he got back to the bench on this one.
