VANCOUVER – Former NHL star Peter Forsberg said he is undecided about his long-term future in hockey, but has already decided he will not join an NHL team for the stretch run this season.
A disappointed Forsberg said after Sweden’s 4-3 loss to Slovakia in the Olympic quarterfinal that he will return home and play the rest of the season with his MoDo club team before making a decision on his future.
“I don’t think I played good enough to…I don’t think I played very well here, so we’ll see what happens,” Forsberg said. “I’m not going to talk about next year. It’s just after a loss.”
When asked whether he would consider signing with an NHL team for the rest of this season in the playoffs, he said no nine times in succession.
When asked why he wouldn’t he replied, “Did you see me play?”
Forsberg finished the tournament with two assists in five games.
