BIEL, Switzerland – Veteran defenceman Sean Hill is leaving the NHL.
He’s signed a one-year contract with Swiss club Biel, which won the second division last season and was promoted to the top league through the playoffs.
The 38-year-old Hill played 876 regular-season games in the NHL, ending last season in his home state with the Minnesota Wild.
He was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens and was part of their Stanley Cup championship team in 1993. Hill also played for Ottawa, Anaheim, Carolina, St. Louis, Florida and the New York Islanders.
Hill will be joined in Biel by Canadian forward David Ling, who played last season with the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League.
