WASHINGTON – The Washington Capitals have signed bruising forward Donald Brashear to a one-year contract, the team announced Thursday.
Terms of the deal were not released. Brashear, who was set to become an unrestricted free agent, has three goals, three assists and a team-high 72 penalty minutes in 50 games with the Capitals. The 36-year-old will make US$1.1 million this season.
The six-foot-three, 239-pound left-winger has 82 goals, 116 assists and 2,393 penalty minutes – fourth among active players – in 896 regular-season games with Montreal, Vancouver, Philadelphia and Washington.
