Watch Roman Josi score Bobby Orr-esque goal against Bruins

Nashville Predators defenseman Roman Josi had quite the night Monday. He scored to get the Predators on the board, got in his first fight and notched the game-tying goal with his best Bobby Orr impression. Watch as Josi goes sailing through the air after burying a goal against the Bruins.

It’s not hard to understand why Nashville Predators defenseman Roman Josi flies under the radar. It’d be hard for any blueliner to grab the spotlight on a team with perennial Norris Trophy contender Shea Weber. But Monday night, Josi showed why he deserves every ounce of praise that comes his way.

Already on pace for the best season of his career, Josi, 25, contributed two goals Monday evening against the Boston Bruins, the second of which was of the highlight-reel variety. With the Predators on the man advantage, Josi made an incredible play at the blueline to keep the puck onside after an attempted clearing by Boston’s Zdeno Chara. Then Josi really worked his magic.

Josi worked his way down the right wing boards with room to operate, and with both Bruins defensemen, Chara and Adam McQuaid, preoccupied by Predators forwards, Josi cut right towards the net. Then, in Bobby Orr-esque fashion, Josi made a quick move before being tripped up and put the puck home while sailing through the air:

Monday was a big night for Josi, who was all over the score sheet. Beyond notching two goals, he registered his first career fight and started the play that resulted in the game-winning goal while playing eventual decoy on Viktor Arvidsson’s 2-on-1 tally that gave Nashville the victory.

Josi really had his breakout season in 2013-14, but he hasn’t showed even the slightest sign of slowing down. In 72 games that season, he scored 13 goals and 40 points, which was followed up by a 15-goal, 55-point campaign in 2014-15. Josi is on pace to break both of those career highs, though. Through 27 games this season, he has seven goals and 20 points, putting him on a 21-goal, 60-point pace.
