Check out the time-lapsed creation of the rink for tomorrow’s Stadium Series game between the Kings and Sharks. Everything is set to go from Santa Clara’s Levi’s Stadium and it couldn’t be a more important contest for San Jose Sharks and Los Angeles.
If there’s something about the spectacle of outdoor NHL games that won’t wear off, it’s seeing how everything comes together to make the entire experience happen comes together.
Over the course of the preparation for the Stadium Series game between the San Jose Sharks and Los Angeles Kings at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., there has been a camera perched on top of the stadium overlooking the exact spot where the rink was to be placed. Watch as workers speed around in time-lapse fashion to change the home of the San Francisco 49ers to the one-night home rink for the San Jose Sharks.
The music is perfect, like it’s the NHL’s take on Yakety Sax. There’s something so very ominous about seeing the shadow crawl over the stadium, though. It’s like the start of a horror movie.
The game itself takes place on Saturday night and, more than just a spectacle, it’s an important game. The Kings, winners of six straight, trail the Sharks by two points for the second and final wild-card spot in the Western Conference. San Jose is currently mired in a 3-5-2 slump over their last 10 games, but losing ground to Los Angeles at this point in the season could be fatal.
Puck drop is at 10 p.m. EST, and it could be the most competitive outdoor game to date.
