Wednesday’s games involving Canadian teams:
Oilers at Stars, 7:30 p.m. ET
Oilers—The Oilers (14-25-8 going into Tuesday’s game against Phoenix) wrap up a mini two-game road trip before the all-star break. The break may be welcome after a three-game winless homestand.
Stars—Dallas (29-15-5) is looking to repair a leaky defence that has yielded 14 goals in two straight losses. Vancouver scored on three of its first five shots against the Stars on Monday. Stars coach Marc Crawford described the performance against the Canucks as “stinky.”
Blues at Flames, 10 p.m. ET
Blues—The Blues (22-19-7) are winless in three, although they came close last time out in a 4-3 loss in Colorado when they scored with 1:27 remaining and the extra attacker. St. Louis needs to get its power play going. It’s 25th in the league and was 0-for-3 against the Avs.
Flames—The Flames (23-21-6) are on a roll, having dispatched Dallas, Vancouver and Nashville in their last three outings. After a rocky patch, Miikka Kiprusoff has been solid in goal. Calgary is 9-3-3 in its last 15 games.
Predators at Canucks, 10 p.m. ET
Predators—A 3-1 loss to Calgary on Monday was a stumble after wins over Edmonton, Colorado and Phoenix. It’s the end of a season-high six-game road trip for the Preds (27-16-6), who have gone 3-2 going into the Rogers Arena game.
Canucks—Vancouver (30-10-9) got back on track with a 7-1 thumping of Dallas on Monday after losing four—two by shootout and one in overtime. The good news is goalie Roberto Luongo hasn’t lost in regulation in 16 games (11-0-5).
