Weeding out stupidity will get rid of fighting

We give the referees a hard time, but how can they be expected to do a good job when the front office doesn’t have a clue?

In Game 5 of the Bruins-Canes series the ref got the call absolutely correct. He gave Carolina’s Scott Walker an instigator penalty for a sucker punch on Aaron Ward that comes with an automatic one-game suspension. The brain trust in the NHL’s front office rescinded the suspension, leaving the players to police themselves.

Good job Colin Campbell. I can’t wait to see someone do the same to Sidney Crosby or Alex Ovechkin and get the same punishment. Instead of getting fighting out of the game let’s start with stupidity.
